About
Welcome to the Cello Retreat, a dynamic and immersive experience dedicated to exploring the full expressive potential of the cello. Our workshops are designed to uncover and celebrate the instrument’s versatility, allowing participants to deepen their musicality and technical skills.
At the heart of the Retreat, cellists engage in ensemble playing—forming cello and chamber music groups that repertoire spanning all musical eras, from Buxtehude to Bach, Sibelius to Herbie Hancock. Participants also attend daily technique classes, improvisation and music theory sessions, and masterclasses on solo repertoire.
Two programs are offered: Cello Chill, held in the fall and primarily for adults, and Cello Retreat during the summer for teenagers. Both programs are tailored for intermediate to advanced cellists and are led by Juilliard graduate concert cellist Grace Anderson, along with guest instructors.
